Vijai Singh Katiyar
Vijai is Principal Designer and Faculty at the National Institute of Design (NID), India. He chairs the Professional Education Programmes of NID. He is the founder of the International Center for Indian Crafts (ICIC) at NID. He is part of the NID’s Policy and Planning Committee and a member of the Governing Council of the Institute. He also serves on the advisory board of the National Design Business Incubator. He has been a Visiting Research Fellow to University of New South Wales, Sydney. He works across textiles, crafts, and lifestyle sectors concentrating on areas such as design innovation, system design, product development, trends, colour and forecasting. He has helped many businesses in the domestic and exports sector by contributing solutions in the form of development strategies and brand design. He has several publications to his credit; this includes research papers and two major books—Design Education: Tradition and Modernity and Indian Saris: Traditions-Perspectives-Design.
